Just over a quarter of the number of either building consents or new sections needed in the second year of the Auckland Housing Accord have been achieved in the first three months.

The accord aims to have 13,000 homes either consented or sections created in the year to the end of October.

Nearly 2188 homes were consented in the three months to the end of September, with 90 percent being outside the fast-track Special Housing Areas set up under the Accord.

Nearly 629 sections were created in December, the second highest in the 15-month life of the accord.

Twenty percent were in the Special Housing Areas.
