A homicide investigation has been launched after a man died early this morning at Waihi Beach.

Emergency services responded to reports of disorder on Seaforth Road in Bowentown just before 1am.
Police say when they arrived they located a man in critical condition.
They said emergency medical treatment was administered, however he died at the scene.
A scene guard is in place.
