Helicopters helping fight scrub fire

17:13 pm on 7 February 2014

Two helicopters are being used to try to put out a 10-hectare fire in a remote part of Northland that started near the Kai Iwi lakes at 11am on Friday.

The Fire Service says it is burning in scrub near sand dunes and is being fanned by strong winds pushing it toward the sea.

No properties are threatened.
