In Australia, lockdown will end at 6pm local time today for parts of Queensland, but has been extended for Brisbane and Moreton Bay, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says.
The decision comes after another three cases of community transmission were recorded in the state.
The three-day lockdown will end this evening for the Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Gold Coast, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Townsville.
Lockdown will continue until at least tomorrow for the Brisbane City Council and the Moreton Bay regions.
Palaszczuk said a mother and daughter from Carindale, in Brisbane's north, were tested yesterday and returned a positive result today.
They had been out in the community "extensively".
"We really need our contact tracers to get on top of this issue today," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"I am just asking for that extra 24 hours.
"We will come back early tomorrow morning, once our contact tracers get on top of this and we will look at the case numbers overnight."
The Chief Health Officer said the Carindale mother and daughter had visited the following places (all in local time):
- Harris Farm Markets and Woolworths, West End on Sunday 26 June between 11.50am and 1.50pm
- Greek Orthodox Community Centre on Monday 28 June and Tuesday 29 June
- Espresso Engine coffee shop on Tuesday 29 June between 7.20am and 7.30am
- Woolworths Metro on Turbot Street on Tuesday 29 June at 9.30am (for five minutes)
- JB Hi Fi on Albert Street on Tuesday 29 June between 12.20pm and 12.30pm
- Mecca Maxima Make Up Shop in Queen Street Mall on Tuesday 29 June between 12.40pm and 12.50pm
Airport worker has Delta strain
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young confirmed today that a woman who worked at the Brisbane International Airport has the highly infectious Delta strain.
She was in the community for five days while infectious.
Dr Young said the woman's partner has also returned a positive result.
She said the man is actually considered the "index" case and he passed it on to his partner.
"He's a luggage handler at the airport, so we think he's probably got it from international crew," she said.
