In Samoa Malietoa Fa'amausili Moli has been charged with carrying a dangerous weapon.
The Samoa Observer said this followed an incident at his Fagali'i residence last month, when a gun was allegedly discharged.
A Courts Administration official said Malietoa Fa'amausili had been released on his own cognisance and was due in court for mention on 4 December.
This came as he's also facing contempt of court charges over the bestowal of the Malietoa title in the village of Malie in August.
Police said this bestowal was an unlawful act, after a court order to the Malie village council not to proceed with the ceremony.
They said this amounted to contempt of court.
