Tauranga police station has been listed this evening as a high risk location of interest for Covid-19.
The Ministry of Health website said anyone who was at the police station yesterday between 2.44pm and 3pm should isolate immediately.
Anyone who visited the station in that time period should also be tested immediately and again on day five.
A police spokesperson said the front counter was temporarily closed yesterday as a precautionary measure, after concerns about a person who went in and may have been unwell.
The rest of the station was operating as normal, they said.
Meanwhile, a Tauranga primary school has moved to distance learning for two of its classrooms after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19.
Brookfield School alerted parents to the news this evening.
Its principal said officials have advised the school can remain open as the positive case only concerned two classrooms and staff who went on a day trip via bus to Waihi.
The Bay of Plenty District Health Board has 69 active cases in the region but there were no new cases reported by the Ministry of Health in Tauranga earlier today.
