Further charges laid after Māngere Bridge attack

12:21 pm on 24 July 2019

A 32-year-old woman died after being hit by a car at a commercial address on Mahunga Drive, Māngere Bridge, on 20 June.

Police later arrested and charged an Ōtara man with attempted murder.

Since then, further charges of murder and assault with a weapon - the weapon being a car - have been laid.

The 46-year-old, who has interim name suppression, appeared in the Auckland High Court this morning.

He entered not guilty pleas to each of the charges through his defence lawyer Sharon Green.

The man was refused name suppression in the District Court but kept his identity secret on appeal.

A name suppression hearing will be held on 30 July, while a trial date has been set for July next year.
