Two people are dead and a third seriously injured after a shooting in the Ashburton WINZ office this morning.
“A male entered the Ashburton WINZ office this morning and has discharged a firearm,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
“As a result two people are deceased and a third person is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.”
A police spokesperson said the incident happened just after 10am, and the man then fled the office on a bike.
“Police ... request that locals take precautions and stay indoors,” the spokesperson said.
