A body has been recovered from Karioitahi Beach, four days after a person went missing after being swept into the water.
Police confirmed in a statement the body was located this morning by an Eagle helicopter crew, who were carrying out an aerial search of the coastline.
The body was recovered by local surf lifesavers and brought to land.
A person went missing at Karioitahi, on the Auckland-Waikato border, after being swept into the water on 7 January. Police said their next of kin had been notified, but police "will not be in a position to name the person until formal identification has taken place".
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
