The woman who was stabbed this afternoon in central Auckland knew her attacker, police have confirmed.

The 18-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after she was stabbed on Anzac Ave at about 2.45pm.
An 18-year-old man is currently in custody and assisting police with enquiries.
"This was not a random attack and the two people involved are known to each other," said Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong.
"Police were on the scene quickly and there is no ongoing risk to the public".
Police are still at the scene this evening.
The victim's family has been notified and are being supported by police and Victim Support.
