Shakeup at Environment Ministry

10:31 am on 8 April 2009

The Ministry for the Environment has announced a restructure of its organisation, though it says the push for efficiency, not cost cuts or downsizing, is behind the changes.

Ministry chief executive Paul Reynolds unveiled the details to staff on Tuesday. It involves reorganising its structure into three divisions: policy, programmes, and corporate and strategy.

Mr Reynolds says he does not expect the restructure to result in job losses.

He says a quarter of staff will have to reapply for their positions, affecting those in management and those where a job designation changes.

The changes will take place over the next few months.
