Tahiti has thrashed debutants Tonga 24-2 to clinch the last semi-final spot at the Oceania Futsal Nations Cup in New Caledonia.

Having lost 7-2 to the defending champions Solomon Islands on Tuesday, the Tahitians needed to beat Tonga to make it out of Group B and they did so ruthlessly in Noumea on Wednesday.

In group A, New Zealand have come out on top after their 4-2 victory over hosts New Caledonia.

The win sets the Kiwis up for a semifinal showdown against Tahiti on Friday, which they will play shortly after New Caledonia face Solomon Islands who secured their top spot in group B by beating Fiji 4-1 yesterday in Noumea.
