Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in a central North Island town in which a man was assaulted and threatened with a firearm.
They were called to a rural property in Reporoa south of Rotorua just before 3am yesterday.
A man had been hit with a baseball bat and threatened with a firearm by three men.
He was not seriously injured in the attack.
Detective Chris Nairn said that firearms, ammunition and electronic items including mobile phones were stolen from the house before the offenders fled in a car.
He said the property may have been targeted.
