Papua New Guinea's prime minister is travelling to India, accompanied by a business delegation, to seek opportunities for trade and investment.
Peter O'Neill is among 14 leaders of Pacific Island countries to attend the India-Pacific Islands Cooperation leaders' summit in Jaipur which starts on Friday.
The newspaper The National says Mr O'Neill has welcomed the initiative which he says is another avenue for sharing information and increasing trade and investment.
He says regional forums with large economic partners carry different perspectives and are of great benefit to Pacific island nations.
Mr O'Neill says there will be discussions on sharing expertise on renewable energy.
