Convicted lawyer in Samoa gets five year jail for theft and dishonesty

The Supreme Court in Samoa has convicted and sentenced to five years in jail, Semi Samau, a lawyer who was formerly employed as manager for the legal division of the Development Bank of Samoa.

The defendant was found guilty after a trial in October of ten out of fifteen charges including theft as a servant, dishonesty and falsifying accounts.

The charges relate to the misappropriation of sixty thousand US dollars of development bank funds .
