While Prince William and Kate wave to the cameras in the US, the front pages of newspapers back in the UK are splashed with an ugly row over racism.

Ngozi Fulani, a black British charity boss, was repeatedly asked where she was really from by the Prince of Wales's godmother, Lady Susan Hussey.

Fulani likened the conversation with the 83-year-old to an interrogation.

Lady Hussey has now resigned over the incident at an event in Buckingham Palace.

Prince William's office issued a statement saying "racism has no place in our society".

Royal correspondent Victoria Arbiter spoke to Guyon Espiner from New York.
