Multiple arrivals and departures of Air New Zealand, Air Chathams, Jetstar and Sounds Air services were either delayed or cancelled to and from Christchurch Airport as fog set in.

Air New Zealand said many of its regional turboprop services had been cancelled or significantly delayed this morning and the disruption was likely to affect the schedule for much of the day.

Its domestic jet operations into and out of Christchurch and Dunedin were also affected, with some flow on impact to the schedule.

Customers were being offered road transportation options where viable, Air New Zealand said.

The airline said those booked to travel on affected flights had the option of transferring their booking to another date by managing their booking online.

People booked to travel domestically today were advised to keep an eye on the Air New Zealand arrivals and departures page for the most up to date flight information.

If travel is not urgent customers can opt to hold their fares in credit, the airline said.
