Samoan woman has prostitution charges against her cleared

09:30 am on 23 June 2010

One of the eight women facing prostitution charges in Samoa has been cleared of 30 charges.

District court judge, Vaepule Vaemoa Va'ai dismissed charges against Andrea Angie Fa'avae because the prosecution had failed to provide evidence to support their case.

Andrea Angie Fa'avae appeared without the other seven defendants as their cases are still pending and the police have been issued with a warrant to arrest them.

A police operation last year arrested the women following reports of them being involved in an alleged prostitution ring.
