A police search of a French Polynesian atoll owned by a Canadian billionaire has led to the seizure and destruction of 48 cannabis plants.
Tahiti-infos reports that police searched the atoll of Nukutepipi after charging the founder of Cirque de Soleil, Guy Laliberte, with possession and cultivation of a banned drug.
Mr Laliberte's company said last month that he used cannabis for medical reasons.
He reportedly came to the attention of the police after one of his employees was caught selling cannabis.
His lawyer said Mr Laliberte had not been charged with trafficking but the public broadcaster said he was being probed for transport and complicity in producing drugs.
By law, this is punishable with up to 10 years in prison.
A trial date is yet to be set.
