Australia's new High Commissioner to New Zealand has been named.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced today that Ewen McDonald will take up the post.
Mr McDonald has most recently been the deputy secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, overseeing the Australian government's aid and development work.
Mr McDonald will also have non-resident accreditation to the Cook Islands and Niue.
The outgoing High Commissioner is Peter Woolcott and Ms Bishop has thanked him for his service.
