Police are continuing to search for a man who robbed a Lower Hutt dairy at knife-point yesterday afternoon.
Police said a worker at the shop in Waterloo walked outside to the rear of the shop to find a man, with a scarf covering his face, brandishing a large knife.
He demanded cash before fleeing with a small sum and was last seen running through properties on Waterloo Road, towards Pinny Avenue.
Detective Sergeant Mike Sears of the Wellington District Crime Squad said the incident could have easily escalated and he was thankful no one was injured.
The offender was described as a "skinny" Caucasian male in his late teens or early twenties, wearing dark clothing.
