Chronophonium: Local not-for-profit festival Chronophonium is back for the long weekend, this time taking place at a new venue at Lake Ngatu, north of Kaitaia. The colossal line-up this year is curated by organisers including Off The Radar, Inky Waves, Worn Out and Chrony themselves. Get your tickets right here.
Ha The Unclear: Ahead of a few shows in Australia this month, local act Ha The Unclear are holding a fundraising show this Monday “so we can eat and pay for petrol and buy an Ibis”. They play at Freida Margolis in Grey Lynn and tickets are $15 from Under The Radar.
One Love: Much-loved festival One Love is back this weekend for two days celebrating the best in roots and reggae music. Headliners this year include J Boog, Common Kings and Third World, and it’s all going down at Tauranga Domain. GG, K2K, October: Ahead of Chronophonium, Wellington producer/vocalist K2K will be making her Auckland debut tonight at Golden Dawn. She’ll perform alongside DJ GG and October – the Blenheim-raised / Wellington-based musician who we recently profiled. Entry is $5 on the door.
One For Dilla: It’s been almost 10 years to the day since the death of hugely influential hip hop producer J Dilla, and to mark the occasion, a handful of Wellington DJs are getting together to pay tribute to the legend this Saturday. The show is going down at Meow and features LVX, Sotes One, Masenco and more. Presales are available here.
Wurld Series: Christchurch-based trio Wurld Series, who we profiled last year as part of our Introducing series, play a show this Sunday at the Darkroom. The Melted Ice Cream-affiliated act will be joined by producer Sabine Wojnar and “scumbag rock” band DOGFISH. Take a listen to their recent split EP with Jim Nothing, below.
