People in Fiji are advised to take heed of a heavy rain warning that has been issued for most of the country, the National Disaster Management Office says.
The office said people living in low lying areas should exercise caution.
Parents should monitor the whereabouts of their children at all times and keep them away from flooded drains or waterways.
Motorists should take extra precautions and adjust travel plans.
Families should prepare to evacuate in case the need arises.
People should monitor weather bulletins and forecasts on the radio or on the [www.met.gov.fj Fiji Meteorological Service website].
At 6.30 pm on Monday night, the service said the heavy rain warning remained in force for Vanua Levu, the eastern half and interior of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and the Lau group and was now in force for Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.
A low pressure trough that's brought the rain is expected to affect the country until later on Tuesday.
