Three people have been injured in a serious crash in Canterbury.
Emergency services were called to the two-car crash on Twizel-Omarama Road about 10.30am on Thursday.
Two ambulances and a helicopter are at the scene, St John said.
Police said two people were initially trapped in vehicles.
Two people have received serious to critical injuries, and a third person has moderate injuries.
