World champion shearer Rowland Smith won his third Golden Shears Open title in Masterton last night.
The 29-year-old Hawke's Bay shearer was the overwhelming favourite to win.
Second place went to Napier shearer John Kirkpatrick, who has won the title four times and is also the most prolific runner-up in the event's history.
New finalist Paerata Abraham from Masterton showed the fastest turn of speed on the board by shearing 20 second-shear sheep in 15 minutes and 50 seconds.
