New TVNZ poll: Labour on 49%, National on 27%

Labour remains on top, with 49 percent, while National has climbed to 27 percent in TVNZ's first Colmar Brunton poll for the year.

The poll released tonight was a 4 percentage point drop for Labour and a 2 percentage point rise for National. It had the Green Party at 9 percent, up 1 percentage point, and ACT unchanged at 8 percent.

Labour leader Jacinda Ardern and National's Judith Collins both dropped numbers in preferred prime minister stakes, on 43 percent - with Ardern down from 58 percent in the last poll in December and Collins down 4 percentage points to 8 percent.

The next highest on preferred PM was David Seymour at 4 percent, although some 27 percent said they did not know who they preferred as Prime Minister.
