Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Central Otago

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on State Highway 8 in Central Otago on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to the crash between Tamblyn Road and Selkirk Place in Roxburgh, about 7.20pm.

The person died at the scene.

Police said they were providing support to the person's next of kin.

The Serious Crash Unit has completed a scene examination and SH8 has since reopened.
