Hapu in the Far North will meet with government representatives today to urge them to stop negotiating with the board steering Ngapuhi's Treaty settlement.
An urgent Waitangi Tribunal hearing is to be held into the approval of Tuhoronuku to lead settlement negotiations for the iwi.
Te Kotahitanga o Nga Hapu o Ngapuhi, which represents 12 sub-tribes, demanded the hearing because it believes the Crown chose Tuhoronuku unfairly.
The Office of Treaty Settlements and a Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations representative will be at the Hokianga Taiwhenua hui today.
Hokianga o Nga Hapu Whanau spokesman Rudy Taylor said the meeting will be their final attempt to engage with the Crown before the hearing.
Mr Taylor said five conditions were imposed on Tuhoronuku by the Crown, and they have failed to meet them.
Tuhoronuku has indicated it will leave the door open for disaffected hapu.
