Police say they have closed a Papatoetoe road after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The crash on Puhinui Road in Papatoetoe near the intersection with Wallace Road was reported about 6.40pm on Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.
"The pedestrian was critically injured and has been transported to hospital."
Diversions are in place, they said, but Puhinui Road will remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene.
