15:42 pm on 7 February 2012

Tropical Cyclone Jasmine, which is currently lying to the west of Vanuatu, has been upgraded to category three.

Latest data suggests the cyclone will bring gale force winds and heavy rain to some islands in the group later on Tuesday evening.

Islands in Malempa and Shefa provinces are expected to be most affected.

However, the Vanuatu Meteorological Service expects Jasmine to lose intensity as it hits cooler waters.
