The first national duck calling championships are being held in Dunedin on Friday night and organisers say it will show that New Zealanders are world-class.
The champs are being held at the Mornington Tavern after more than 30 local and regional finals around the country. Rules are strict, with no caller able to hear another's calls.
More than 50 people are competing to represent the country at the world championships in the United States.
Organiser Craig McKenzie said duck calling is a very popular sport in America, but this is New Zealand's first championship and it will be a big test.
Mr McKenzie said New Zealanders are good at duck shooting and calling, so should be able to hold their own.
