Police said they tried to stop the car, which was believed to be stolen, around 10pm yesterday, but the driver refused and the vehicle crashed.

There were seven young people, aged from 11 to 16, in the car.

One is in hospital in intensive care.

The other passengers had minor and moderate injuries and have since been discharged from hospital.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Conduct Authority and those in the car referred to Youth Aid.
