A person is dead and a baby has been taken to hospital with critical injuries after a trailer came loose and hit a vehicle in Northland.
A third person is trapped in wreckage after the accident, north of Whakapara, on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, four people have been taken to hospital and the road has been closed on State Highway 50 in Napier after a crash.
Diversions are in place at the scenes of both accidents.
