Two people are reported to be in a critical condition following a serious two-vehicle crash in Canterbury.
A further two people have minor injuries.
Police said emergency services, including a helicopter, were responding to the crash involving a truck and a car at Greta Valley on State Highway 1.
The road was blocked and diversions were in place at Waipara and Greta Valley.
Motorists have been advised to expect delays and to avoid the area.
