The Institution of Professional Engineers - IPENZ -will not appeal against a decision dismissing its complaint against an engineer involved in the design and construction of Christchurch's CTV building.
IPENZ had lodged a complaint in December 2012 because it believed Alan Reay had failed to disclose his involvement when he applied for registration in April 2011.
A month after the CTV building collapsed in the February 2011 earthquake, killing 115 people, Dr Reay asked senior structural engineer David Whittaker to act as a referee for his renewed registration as a chartered professional engineer with the institution.
An independent disciplinary committee hearing was triggered by the institution's complaint but the complaint was dismissed once Dr Reay resigned from IPENZ.
The institution's chief executive Susan Freeman-Greene said it accepted the committee's decision, which she said followed a very thorough hearing of all the facts of the case.
