An Australian lawyer is calling for a prisoner exchange programme with Indonesia to get people off death row and says an agreement could be in place within three days.
Kerry Salinger, who was one of the lawyers for the Australian drug smuggler Schapelle Corby, told Morning Report a prisoner exchange programme could save the lives of the two ring-leaders of the so-called Bali Nine, who are to be executed by firing squad for smuggling heroin.
She said such a programme was long overdue, with discussions going on for 25 years.
"If they started tomorrow, if the Government was sincere in this and I'm sure that they are, they should take it on board and implement it quickly."
Ms Salinger said there was a lot of support for the programme in Australia.
