A large slip on one of the main routes into Wellington's CBD is disrupting traffic.
Two lanes were taken out on Bowen Street on Saturday after significant rainfall.
Difficulties finding a digger to clean the slip up has led to continued disruption.
A long reach digger will be at the site tomorrow morning to clear the loose material from the bank.
Wellington City Council has urged motorists to avoid the Bowen Street area tomorrow as a stop-go system will be in place.
Parking on either side of the the road will also be removed to help traffic management.
Multiple road closures, slips in Marlborough Sounds
Heavy rain has caused a number of new slips and road closures on the fragile Marlborough Sounds road network.
Kenepuru Rd is closed between Sandy Bay and the Kenepuru Heads campsite after damage to the road got worse overnight.
Queen Charlotte Drive is also closed between Shakespeare and Ngakuta bays.
Awatere Valley Road is closed at Limestone Bridge and Port Underwood Road is open to light vehicles only.
A number of other roads are closed and there are several slips on State Highway 1 between Blenheim and Picton.
