The Blues have beaten the Highlanders at Eden Park 16-9 tonight in their final match before the playoffs.
With the Highlanders losing, the match was likely to have been halfback Aaron Smith's final Super Rugby game, bowing out after 185 Super matches.
The Blues welcomed back suspended captain Dalton Papali'i] and while they cemented third place on the table with a comfortable win over the Hurricanes last week, they needed to produce a convincing 80-minute performance.
