Jamie Tuuta has been announced to replace Dame Georgina te Heuheu Māori Television's board chair.
Minister of Māori Development Nanaia Mahuta said Mr Tuuta brought significant strategic change management and governance skills and a dynamic perspective to the challenges of a changing digital environment.
Mr Tuuta is the current Māori Trustee, chair of Te Ohu Kaimoana, Chair of Te Rūnunga o Ngāti Mutunga, Independent Chair of Taranaki Mounga Project and a director of Moana New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand.
The appointee for the deputy chair position was also announced as chief executive of bi-lingual iwi radio Te Hiku Media, Peter Lucas Jones.
Ms Mahuta said she and Finance Minister Grant Robertson, in consultation with Te Mātāwai, decided Mr Tuuta and Mr Jones had a dynamic combination of business and broadcasting expertise.
"Use their skills to protect and position the future of the network, while providing unique indigenous content that builds our narrative as a nation proud of who we are as tangata whenua," Ms Mahuta said.
