Record numbers of people settled and visited the country last month.
Official figures show a seasonally adjusted gain of about 6220 immigrants for November, the highest for that month.
While it was fractionally lower than the month earlier, the annual tally edged up to a record of nearly 70,400.
The growth was driven by higher numbers of New Zealanders returning from overseas and people on working holidays.
A record 333,500 tourists arrived last month taking the annual number to a new high of more than 3.4 million.
The number of New Zealanders travelling overseas also hit a record of 2.5 million for the November year.
