Kim Dotcom to learn his fate today

Kim Dotcom and his co-accused will learn today whether they are eligible to be extradited to the United States.

The FBI wants the men to stand trial in the US on charges of copyright infringement, money-laundering and racketeering, related to their file-sharing website, Megaupload.

A 10-week hearing in the district court ended last month, but Judge Nevin Dawson reserved his decision.

The court said the judgment would be delivered in Auckland this afternoon.

If the court ruled the men were eligible for extradition, it would be up to Justice Minister Amy Adams to endorse the decision.

The four men still have rights to appeal the decision if the court rules against them.
