Fiji police have launched a formal investigation following complaints that a senior officer of the force entered a Suva nightclub with a gun and threatened a patron.
The police commissioner, Andrew Hughes, has told Radio Legend that the allegations are serious and they need to ascertain where the officer managed to get a gun if the incident actually occurred.
Fiji police are not normally armed and do not carry guns.
Mr Hughes says it's a high profile case because a senior officer is involved and the deputy commissioner is carrying out the investigation.
Police are also investigating the same officer for helping to transport some prison escapees.
