The fifth meeting of the Pacific Meteorological Council will take place in Samoa from Wednesday to Friday this week.
Gaps in delivering appropriate and timely information to save lives will be discussed at the meeting, along with a number of other matters.
The gathering will bring together about 200 people, with the theme being 'Science to Services for a resilient Pacific.'
This is in recognition that weather, climate, water and ocean services are essential components in national and regional sustainable development frameworks in the Pacific.
The three day meeting ends on Friday.
