Cooks government says there will be no compromise over planned party hopping laws

The Cook Islands acting prime minister, Ngamau Munokoa, says the Democratic government will not compromise over plans for legislation to stop party hopping.

She says an approach by opposition MP Norman George and a former Prime Minister, Dr Robert Woonton, last week to drop the plans, has been rejected.

Ms Munokoa says the Democratic government will pass the legislation as a matter of priority and there will be no closed door-deals or concessions made.
