'Extremely dangerous' man wanted in relation to shooting

Police are searching for a man they describe as "extremely dangerous" as they continue their investigation into a shooting in Christchurch last week.

Detective senior sergeant Tania Jellyman says Hendrix Rawiri Jury, 27, has a warrant for his arrest in relation to the shooting.

Police are asking for the public's help to locate him, but warn he's "extremely dangerous" and should not be approached.

Anyone who sees him or knows where he is should immediately call 111, Jellyman said.

Police had now established the shooting on 30 August took place on Hereford St in central Christchurch.

Police have executed a number of search warrants in the days since and enquiries have indicated the shooting was not random, Jellyman said.

The victim has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
