A company aiming to build more than 1000 temporary housing units for workers helping with the rebuild of Christchurch, is working with police on how the villages should be run.
The JGM group, a team of developers and businessmen, says its villages will be catered, have shared lounges, games rooms and outdoor activity areas, 24-hour security, and swipe access.
The group said on Wednesday its first village, which is proposed to be built in the central city, will have up to 350 units and is due to be in place by March next year.
Spokesperson Sam Fisher said the rebuild is estimated to provide $30 billion worth of work over the next 10 years and could require up to 36,000 workers.
Mr Fisher says they have to live somewhere and that the group wants to combat any problems with drinking and partying by having rules in place.
