The Royal Commission into the terrorist attack on two Christchurch mosques will have an active presence in both Christchurch and Wellington.
The inquiry - which will be headed by Supreme Court Justice Sir William Young - is allowed to begin considering evidence from 13 May.
The $8.2 million investigation will examine the shooter's activities, use of social media and international connections, as well as the priorities of the New Zealand intelligence and security agencies.
The team is to report back back to the Governor General by 10 December.
