Seven injured after Gisborne car crash

Seven people have been injured after two cars collided just north of Gisborne.

The crash happened at 10.45 this morning on State Highway Two, south of Te Karaka. The road is expected to be closed until 3pm

Three ambulances and a helicopter attended the incident, where two people were found to have critical injuries.

Another two people have serious injuries and three others had moderate injuries.

Two people were transported to Gisborne Hospital by the rescue helicopter and the others by ambulance.

The road is still closed following the incident.
