Armed police are at a house in west Auckland, the site of a brief standoff this morning.
An occupant in a property on Henderson Valley Road barricaded themselves inside and made threats about being armed when police arrived with a search warrant at about 6am this morning.
A police spokesperson says the Armed Offenders Squad moved in and "cleared" the scene.
Cordons which were put in place in the surrounding area as the stand off took place have now been lifted.
Police say enquiries are ongoing and charges are likely.
One woman says she heard loud bangs about half past six, but wasn't sure what they were.
She and a young child were in a nearby house watching television at the time.
A RNZ reporter at the scene says there are eight officers and a police dog at the property.
Officers have also smashed the window of a parked car to get inside.
