Death of saltwater croc in Napier

09:58 am on 29 July 2010

One of the major attractions at the National Aquarium in Napier has died.

Izzy, a salt water crocodile, arrived as a baby in the early 1990's from a farm in Singapore.

The aquarium says staff are puzzled by the sudden death, as it hadn't shown any signs of ill health.

Manager Rob Yarrall says it could be some time before the cause of death is known.
